Thanks for the Christmas card, Violet.

Happy Tofurkey Day to all!

I know everyone is cooking up a feast right now, or perhaps you’re watching someone else do it, or maybe you’re already indulging in some delicious pumpkin pie. I assume no one will read the blog today, but just in case you need a break from the family affair…Cocktails At Tiffany’s is here.

Truth be told, Gizzy and I spend a lot of time bitching about things that go awry in our lives. But, Thanksgiving is right up there with Christmas as my favorite holiday, and each year, I really do like to reflect on the things I’m thankful for.

Although it sounds cheesy, I am thankful for this blog. I’ve often tried to say how I really feel to people’s faces, but clearly I come across as a bitch, so this is a great outlet for me and my weird problems. It’s also a project I get to do with one of my best friends—who wouldn’t love that?

I don’t think you realize just how excited I am when I see that a comment has been posted—I love getting advice from so many different people. Thanks!

This year, for the first time in about six years, I am thankful that I’m single. I read this article on The Frisky, and it really hit home for me. Particularly, reason #8 the writer is thankful for being single:

No Mr. Wrongs. Nothing feels lonelier than spending a special day with someone who doesn’t truly think you’re special.  I am sincerely thankful for all the wrong-for-me-guys I’m not going to be spending the holiday with.

Seriously, every Thanksgiving I’ve spent sad because I just got dumped, or pissed because my boyfriend won’t spend Turkey Day with me, or hanging out by my cell phone to see if I’ll get a text.

Fuuuuuuuck all dat!

This year, I’m joining the crew I love the most—Buttons and her family, Gizzy, and other fun friends. I used to get down that I don’t spend the holidays with my family, but you know what? I feel loved among my friends, and that’s really all the holidays are about.

So, in Alanis Morissette style, thank you, thank you readers, thank you cranberry sauce, thank you Macy’s Day Parade, and thank you thank you, Justin Bieber.
